Phasing out harmful technologies: How would it affect wellbeing?

How harmful technologies such as fossil fuels can be phased out without harming social wellbeing is a core aspect of malleability. Julia Steinberger (Uni Lausanne) and REMASS-PI Helmut Haberl co-chaired a session at the conference “Towards a Just and Habitable Earth: Questioning Technologies” in Lausanne, Switzerland, 1-5 June, 2026, organized by the Center for Earth Politics, Paris Cité University, Future Earth France and UNIL.
The lively debate touched upon many of the scientific questions being addressed within REMASS.
