Political Ecology Network Conference 2026

This year's Political Ecology Network (POLLEN) Conference took place in Barcelona, Spain and had the highspeed trains heading there at full capacity, because this is a community that tries to stay grounded whenever possible.
At a conference decidedly marked by care for the environment and one another, academics shared the stage with activists from around the world to exchange different kinds of expert knowledge.
From the REMASS team, Ambika Sairam shared her work on Gendered (Im)Mobilities in Flood-Prone Cities: Mapping geographies of Mobility and Climate Injustice in Hyderabad and Kochi; Franziska Müller spoke on Thinking like a fund. A governmentality analysis of low carbon projects of the Green climate fund in Africa; and Anke Schaffartzik and REMASS collaboration partner (and Barcelona local) Brototi Roy presented their soon-to-be-published work on Colonial patterns in energy transitions: renewables expansion under capitalist globalization.
